#40 closed enhancement (fixed)

opensuse mapped to suse

Reported by: Bryan Gartner Owned by: Bruno Cornec
Priority: minor Milestone: 0.9.8

Description

While working on some openSUSE packaging, I noticed that PB maps this to suse, which is not really a correct action to do (consider the Fedora vs RedHat analogy). This is less of a problem now, since the SuSE Professional versions are no longer, but I'd prefer no translations like this if possible.

Actually I'd like to broaden the scope of this, since other distros also remap (like fedora -> fc* and the "c" is really a misnomer with current releases). Perhaps you can externalize this into a user configurable table, supplying best practice info with a default install, but allow user customization/override capability)

Orginal request should be fixed in rev [735].

I agree the mapping could be externalize. I think we need to work on your map idea a bit closer and then come back to that ER and do what is needed then.

As of rev [897] and upper, the distributions/OS definitions have been externalized in a conf file /etc/pb/pb.conf Please check to see if it cover all your needs around distro/OS remaping.
